History
Originally the Glencoe Grade and High School building and later known as the Glencoe Middle School, the Glencoe City Center began its transformation in 2009.
After numerous years of planning to save the historic school building, the City opened the re-purposed Glencoe City Center.
Now on the National Register of Historic Places, the Glencoe City Center continues to be a gathering space for the community.
Today
On any given week, the Glencoe City Center is filled with a variety of activities. Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, local youth dance clubs, and senior citizen groups are just a few of the groups that are meeting at the facility on a regular basis.
The building includes a state of the art event and meeting facility. Events held at the Glencoe City Center include wedding ceremonies and receptions, concerts, graduations, reunions, confirmations, anniversaries, bridal and baby showers, birthday parties, business meetings, and other community happenings.
The City of Glencoe is proud that the Glencoe City Center will be a gathering spot for generations to come.
Donors
To date, over 1.5 million dollars have been raised, making the dream of the Glencoe City Center a reality. More than 460 pledges have been received from the community, but additional donations are being accepted to reduce the long-term debt on the facility. Cash, three-year pledges, securities, gifts-in-kind, property and paid-up life insurance policies are appropriate donations. All gifts to the Glencoe City Center are deductible as charitable contributions on itemized tax returns.
Donations to the Glencoe City Center will be acknowledged on a permanent donor wall in the facility when the amount is $1,500.00 or more. Commemorative gifts with naming rights may be possible as an opportunity to provide a memorial, living tribute or other legacy-building activity. Please contact the City of Glencoe with questions about this type of donation.
